Effective Preaching
What is APTE? Advanced Practical Theological Education is an educational model that focuses on developing work- or ministry-ready skill sets. PACE Academy is an educational organization that creates pathways to work-ready competencies or skill sets necessary to be proficient in church and parachurch ministries.
Preaching is serious business. Souls hang in the balance. The word in the barbershop now is that preaching is going out of business, and entertainment is taking over the pulpits. Let’s be clear—I am not saying anything except what I am saying. I believe it’s fair to say that as the preaching goes, so does the church. I think that preaching must contain style and substance. If preaching only has style, it is empty, and if preaching only contains a substance, it will likely be boring. We all know that boring preaching is not a waste of time; it leads to some good sleep. However, preaching is supposed to be empowering and transforming.
I believe that contemporary research will reveal that the problem with preaching today is not the issue of method (i.e., expository, narrative, topical, or doctrinal). I believe that contemporary research will verify that the problem is “freestyling” in the name of the Holy Spirit. Second Peter 1:20 tells us that freestyling is out of order because there is no private interpretation of scripture (you can’t just do what you want to do). God’s Word is the quality control agent of Biblical Preaching. PACE Academy is creating pathways with assessments to help preachers avoid the pitfall of freestyling. There are as many opinions about preaching as there are preaching practitioners.

It is true that balance must be applied when preaching. I believe that contextualizarían and relevancy are fundamental when preaching a biblical sermon. The audience must understand clearly what the preacher wants to transmit, and also, to know how to apply it in their daily life. Theology+Good Communicarion+Contextualization+Relevancy=TRANSFORMATION.
