Rev. Claudette Simon Jackson

A Christian Educator walking boldly yet humbly as an example for all to follow

Often when you grow up in the home of a Minister and Pastor, people take for granted that you will walk in ministry at some point in your life. But as we grow, we come to understand that our walk is our walk; our ministry is our ministry. We can expect a foundation from our parents, but we must make the decision to embrace it or ignore it. Rev. Claudette Simon Jackson embraced her part of it in her ministry journey very early. The medical struggles of her life gave her music a meaning that no one else could possibly understand. What they saw and what they felt when she played the piano and sang, was a rejoicing born from the miracles she saw happening in her own life.

Her thirst for more and more of God was the reason her ministry embodied her whole heart and being; through her willingness to show hospitality to all; in her fervent prayers for others; through her teaching Sunday School and in her leadership of Women’s Ministries. Rev. Jackson understood the assignment that God gave her: to teach and encourage others to walk in their own journey. The ultimate call to the pulpit was not surprising to anyone who knew her, because they understood that God had been preparing her for it in every stage of her life.

To make it possible for other women to understand their own assignment is the essence of what Rev. Claudette Simon Jackson stood for—a Christian Educator walking boldly, yet humbly as an example for all to follow.

The Rev. Claudette Simon Jackson Memorial Fund will serve to fund a PACE Academy Fellow that will receive a monthly stipend and free tuition to assist with the development of training and offerings for Women in Ministry (all types of ministry). The goal is to underwrite the cost of this Fellow for 3 years in order to allow them to complete graduate-level studies while helping to ensure other women in ministry are equipped with the tools they need to operate in the ministry they have been called to within the local church, or parachurch organization. Rev. Jackson was an advocate of the PACE Academy program during the initial brainstorming stages and often shared with her daughter the importance of continued Christian education for those who serve in ministry. She was a lifelong learner and teacher who would have been an active contributor and student of PACE Academy if she were still with us.
