#170: Mentoring like the Master

July 1, 2022
Mentoring is a Ministry of Multiplication

Aristotle said that people don’t naturally or spontaneously grow up to be morally excellent or practically wise. They become so, if at all, only as a result of a lifelong pursuit, a through a community effort. So it takes it takes a village, a nation, and people to help do this. And so for us as Christians, we start with what we call the Great Commission, which tells us to make disciples.~ Dr. Fred Chay

According to Aristotle, we are all born with the ability to become morally good and wise. However, we must learn the right habits as children and then get practical wisdom when our minds are fully developed. This is where mentoring comes into play.

The sacred part of mentoring, like the Master, Jesus, is following His command to make disciples.

Most of us desire to give our lives to a significant cause bigger than ourselves. Well, God has given us just that–a great cause that is eternally significant. What is that cause? The church, the body of Jesus Christ, and the mission?

Mentoring like the Master

A ministry of multiplication so that we might empower people in our presence, to continue multiplying in our absence. We call it mentoring, and Christ set the example, so we might mentor with the mind of the Master.

Something intangible that will benefit others. Something bigger than dreams and aspirations or for a greater cause.

In this episode, Dr. Fred Chay aims to help us gain insight into mentoring like the Master and see Christ’s example on mentoring.

We will learn more about how to mentor like Jesus and the great commission in Matthew 28:18-20,

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This podcast aims to teach you how to empower others and multiplying disciples, with the Master Himself as the best example. Dr. Chay also helps us understand what Christ’s example teaches about mentoring.

Dr. Chay is a Systematic and Pastoral Theology Professor and Academic Dean of Doctoral Studies at Grace School of Theology. In addition, he is Managing Editor of Grace Theology Press and has also earned several degrees, including a Ph.D. from Trinity Theological Seminary and a Doctorate in Ministry from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Moreover, he has been in ministry for more than 40 years, that include pastoring churches in Arizona, California, and Texas. Lastly, he is the founder and President of Grace Line, a ministry devoted to motivating Christians toward maturity in their faith.

Every Believer Can Be a Disciple, and Every Disciple a Mentor

Mentoring is not only for business people or professionals to build relationships for business purposes. The most important thing for Christians in their faith walk in Christ is to make disciples the right way. Prepare yourself for a load of encouraging words from our special guest.
