Strong at the Broken Places

The human body is amazingly resilient. When you break a bone, it repairs itself to become strong again. When you get a cut on your skin, tissue builds up to heal the wound. When you get sick and recover, your immune system becomes equipped with antibodies. When you exercise, your muscles are broken down to be built back up stronger. Our bodies are made stronger in the places where they have been broken, bruised, and hurt.
In life, we go through many hardships, trials, and pain but it is only in our darkness that we see Jesus’ light shine through the most. God has given you trials not to break you down but to build you up, and He has sent you the greatest companion—Jesus. What a blessing it is to walk with our Savior—Someone who knows suffering better than anyone. Even with the mockery and persecution, He still emerged victorious.
God will allow us to encounter many trials in this life. Jesus even warned us to anticipate them as long as we are in this world (John 16:33). Some days you might cry out, “WHY GOD?” but He will respond, “To make you victorious!”

About the Instructor
Dr. Mark Rae is the Vice President of Community Development at Grace School of Theology and the Executive Director of Grace Center for Spiritual Development. He holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies degree from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degree from Grace School of Theology.
He spent half of his career in sales and marketing and the other half in church and parachurch ministry as an Associate Pastor, COO of an evangelistic ministry, Executive Director of a discipleship ministry, and Lead Minister.
Mark is married to Melissa and they have two grown children, Ryan and Sean, and five grandchildren.
