Strengthened Understanding of Salvation through the Lens of Grace
I enrolled at Grace to more fully develop a ‘total truth’ worldview that sees the Bible as truth touching on all aspects of reality. This translates directly into my personal teaching and writing ministry.

Hutson learned about Grace through its Founder and President, Dr. Dave Anderson. According to Hutson, he read Dr. Anderson’s book Maximum Joy and was impressed with its content. For Hutson, the Free Grace doctrine fits well with what the Bible says. He eventually decided to enroll in the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) program at Grace, which he completed in 2013. Afterward, he took on the Master of Divinity (MDiv) program at the seminary.

“After coming out of Reformed theology, I was eager to find a conservative seminary that was not Reformed and not teaching a works or performance Gospel. Grace is the right fit.”

Hutson has already published several books on Free Grace’s perspective and commentaries on the Bible. He also serves as an adjunct professor at a seminary in Houston, Texas. When he is not teaching or writing books, Hutson hosts weekly online Bible studies. In addition, he reaches more people by posting his sermon online.

“My other ministry primarily includes interacting with people (who read my book) that contact me through social media. This has given me the chance to get to know more people around the world.”
According to Hutson, Grace has played a massive role in the success of his ministries, as he can apply what he learned in the spiritual field. He also credits his professors’ quality instruction and passion for their craft. They also always say the right things that catch his attention and interest as he learns more about Jesus and His Word.

Some classes that stood out to Hutson are Contemporary Moral Issues in Ministry with Dr. Fred Chay, Introduction to Black Church Studies with Dr. John Adolph and Dr. Thomas Beavers, and Church History and Historical Theology with Dr. Ken Wilson. He considers these classes enriching and significantly impacting his life and service to the Lord.

“All of these have cured unsavory amounts of ignorance and helped me develop a more comprehensive Christian worldview. They also directly enhanced my teaching ministry.”
The things he learned at Grace and the entire student experience kept Hutson pursuing theological education. Even with the challenge of serving as a pastor and teacher, in addition to his book writing, Hutson continues his journey toward becoming a better equipper of God’s Word for others.
