Emmanuel Chea is an Assistant Pastor of Alive Church in Des Moines, Iowa. He was originally from Liberia, West Africa and migrated to the United States in 2012. At that time, he looked to get further training and be equipped to serve in the ministry.
I was so eager to learn these [original] languages to better understand the Bible. I was incredibly grateful that Grace was indeed what it says its distinctives are—attainable, accessible, affordable, and accredited.
He decided to browse online for a school that had the following qualities that he was looking for:
- An accredited school that was affordable and had the option of online or distance learning,
- A school that offered quality courses different from the undergraduate religious education program that he had completed, and
- A school that had a similar doctrine to the Baptist church.
Emmanuel found all these qualities at Grace School of Theology. Every student at Grace is a scholar thanks to its generous donors. Emmanuel is one of our many students who enjoys the financial support Grace gives as he shares that he would never forget how he would always be granted tuition assistance whenever he would apply for one.
Some of the memorable courses that transformed his personal life and how he viewed ministry were when he studied the original languages of the Scriptures through Grace’s elementary and advanced Greek and Hebrew courses. These classes elevated his understanding and helped him go deeper into the Word. He was so eager to learn these languages to be better equipped to understand the Bible so he would not only be a student of the Word but also be a confident and competent teacher of it.
Now as a graduate of three degrees at Grace (Master of Ministry, Master of Divinity, and Master of Theology) thanks to its easily stackable programs, Emmanuel emphasized one essential aspect—Grace is committed and passionate about fulfilling its global vision of developing spiritual leaders in every nation who can teach others about the love of Christ, a love that cannot be earned and cannot be lost.
