From Longing to Learning: How Grace Fulfilled Yanine’s Call to Serve
Yanine’s journey to Grace began with a deep, unshakable desire—a longing to truly understand the Word of God. For years, she felt a pull toward something more, a need to delve deeper into the Holy Scriptures. “The Bible captivated me,” she reflects. “It was so perfect, so profound. I knew I had to study it in detail, to fully equip myself as His servant.”

For me, Grace is a tremendous blessing. It is a longing of my heart fulfilled, thanks to God. I wanted so much to study in order to gain knowledge and to be able to share the gospel. This master’s degree has given me balance in my life with my family; it has been beautifully coupled. I feel very blessed, and I am very happy.
This inner calling led her to seek out a path where she could immerse herself in theological study. But it wasn’t until Pastor Ovidio Risotto, a man of deep faith and knowledge, visited her hometown of Xalapa, Veracruz, that the door to her future opened. “Pastor Risotto and his wife lived in our community for a few months, and it was clear that he was a man of God,” Yanine recalls. “He recommended Grace and, together with his son David, guided me through every step of enrolling in the master’s program.”
This marked the beginning of a transformative journey for Yanine—one that deepened her understanding of Scripture and equipped her to share the gospel with confidence and conviction. However, returning to school after nearly a decade wasn’t without its challenges. “I was worried about going back,” she admits. Yet, she leaned on her faith, trusting that God would help her balance her studies with family and work. “God is always good,” Yanine reflects. “Now, I’ve found my rhythm, and I’m comfortable with my assignments.”
When asked what keeps her going, Yanine’s answer is simple: “God.” She continually seeks His wisdom and understanding, not just for her studies, but to apply it in her daily life. “I need to prepare myself for Him,” she says with determination. Grace has been the perfect fit for her, offering a convenient structure with flexible study plans and payment options. “It’s all about making an effort each week to stay on top of everything,” she adds.
Of course, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. “At first, I doubted myself,” Yanine confesses. “I remembered how Moses told God he wasn’t fit for what was being asked of him. But I reminded myself, ‘Everyone has doubts, but God is with them, and He’s with you too.’” With the encouragement of David Risotto, who has been a constant guide and support, Yanine has not only overcome her doubts but now envisions herself pursuing further studies, possibly even a doctorate.
Among the many classes that have impacted Yanine, two stand out. The first, taught by Dr. Juan Sanchez, gave her the confidence she needed. “He really encouraged us,” she remembers. “I struggled at first with writing and expressing my thoughts, but he told me to just let go and write what came to mind. Now, I can’t stop writing, and I’m so grateful for his support.”
The second class, led by Dr. Ezequiel Serrato, was particularly transformative. “He has such strong leadership and wisdom,” Yanine says. The course brought her face-to-face with the reality of Jesus’ sacrifice. “I went through very painful days, feeling devastated and undeserving of His love. But then, I felt as though God showed me how wonderful He is, and it gave me the strength to continue.”
For Yanine, Grace is more than just an institution—it’s a blessing. “This master’s degree has given me balance in my life, especially with my family,” she shares. “I feel very blessed and incredibly happy. It’s a dream fulfilled, thanks to God.”
