Several years ago, Pastor Erick Hoskin and his wife began pastoring a small gathering of believers in their home in Cypress, Texas. Since then, the church has grown out of the Hoskins’ home to a building where around 600 members meet regularly to worship God and study His Word.

Several years ago, Pastor Erick Hoskin and his wife began pastoring a small gathering of believers in their home in Cypress, Texas. Since then, the church has grown out of the Hoskins’ home to a building where around 600 members meet regularly to worship God and study His Word.

God does not call the qualified but qualifies those He calls. He often gives us assignments bigger than our expertise. But God also equips those He calls. This is where Grace comes in.

Pastor E, as he is affectionately known, reflects on how the Lord prepared him for the challenging task of founding and pastoring a church.

“At a very young age, I was introduced to Christ by my parents, and the ways of Christ were instilled inside of me,” said Pastor E. “As I grew into my teens, I assisted in the starting up of The Brothers in Christ Youth Ministry at King Solomon Baptist Church in Natchez, Mississippi. Although not fully aware of God’s plan for my life, I was blessed to give inspirational speeches throughout Mississippi.” A gifted speaker, Pastor E visited prisons and schools to share God’s Word.

That passion for speaking and sharing the Gospel continued when he arrived in Texas. Pastor E spoke at various churches, schools, and conferences in Houston. He became an Associate Pastor at the Fellowship of Redeeming Truth Church (FORT), where he ministered to youth, men, and couples, passionately sharing the love of Jesus Christ. He also hosted empowerment conferences throughout the State of Texas. “The Fellowship of Redeeming Truth Church (FORT) in Houston, Texas, where I served as assistant pastor, hosted a seminar facilitated by Dr. J.B. Hixson,” he recalls. “This would be the start of a new chapter in my life.”

During this seminar, Pastor Erick was introduced to Grace School of Theology and he was encouraged to pursue a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, which he completed in 2015. He is now pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Grace. The education he received from Grace helped him successfully establish and grow the church he leads.

“Because of Grace School of Theology’s great work, I am the Founder and Senior Pastor of the Word of God Christian Fellowship Church in Cypress, Texas,” said Pastor E. The church has a thriving ministry in the areas of marriage, youth, health and wellness, finance, and other areas that have a direct impact in people’s lives.

“Seminary has afforded me the opportunity to grow at an accelerated pace in my relationship with God. My understanding, confidence and wisdom in God’s Word has since increased.”

“As I continue to prayerfully seek the Scriptures, I am truly influenced by the lessons studied and learned through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Grace School of Theology has definitely been instrumental in my ability to provide spiritual leadership to not one but many others in areas of their lives, enabling me to be more effective in the building up of God’s Kingdom.”
