Juliann Salee is a person who is well passionate about learning about the Lord and serving Him through ministry. So when she heard about Grace School of Theology, she was excited about the opportunity. She enrolled in the school’s Master of Ministry (MM) program and became more equipped with theological knowledge and practical ministry skills she needed in her service to the Lord.

I couldn’t imagine life without Grace. I love being a student of God’s word in such a positive, uplifting environment.

Juliann chose Grace education because of the excellent feedback she received from her brother-in-law, who works full-time in the ministry and has studied at the same seminary. She also considered the seminary’s affordability when she enrolled in its program. According to her, the low tuition rate allowed her to take “double the classes” she could take at many other schools “for the same price.” Although it is affordable, Juliann was confident about the quality of seminary education she can get at Grace because it is backed by “solid credentials” and is “well-respected in the academic world.”

Juliann also finds the accessibility of the classes, which are online, as a plus factor for Grace. At first, she experienced difficulty in adjusting to the system–she hadn’t experienced the academe for a very long time, and it was her first time trying virtual learning. Nonetheless, she became quickly accustomed to it.
“Once I found a rhythm, I was able to pick up the pace and add more classes to my schedule.”

As she spent more time at Grace, Juliann became more passionate about her study. One of the topics that interested her is eternal rewards, which were discussed in The Basis of Free Grace Theology class with Dr. Ken Wilson. It changed her view on “how to live out the Christian life,” affected all areas of her life, and gave her a new perspective.

“I think almost every day about how I can store up treasure in heaven as opposed to storing it up on earth.”

The lessons taught at Grace are also very applicable to her ministries—Student Ministry, Worship Ministry, Women’s Discipleship, and Arab American Ministry. For example, her Missions and Outreach course with Dr. Richard Bustraan greatly impacted her service to the Lord. When she was involved in a local ministry to an immigrant community in her area, the course provided her with the support and tools she needed to become a “successful ambassador of Christ” to the people group.

“Today, I can look back and see that this was God’s way of providing me with what I needed to take those first steps into that ministry and to fuel me with a passion for loving the lost.”

Juliann’s journey towards her theological education has not been without trials. Since beginning her degree, her family has suffered the loss of her grandmother and her father-in-law, and they have had to adapt to several resulting challenges. Nonetheless, she experienced God’s provision during this trying time, allowing her and her family to rise to it.

Juliann is also grateful to her Grace family for being supportive and understanding. Her professors and peers at Grace made sure to reach out to her and give comfort and encouragement. Moreover, her discipleship group has given her a place wherein she can freely express her feelings and seek spiritual advice. This helped her cope with what she was going through during that time.

“I am provided with a safe place to share openly with others who can sympathize with my experience and pray earnestly for me. I cannot overstate the value of our meeting time each week.”

Juliann overcame these challenges by God’s grace and was able to continue with her Grace education. The more she learned at the seminary, the more she became passionate about knowing more about God. For her, the experience has been “enlightening” and “enriching” to her spiritual life. But, she just kept “thirsting for more.” Aside from pursuing a MM degree, which she started in 2018, Juliann is also pursuing a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) degree. She plans to graduate with both in the future.
