Juggling Priorities Didn’t Stop a Student from Graduating from Seminary
So, when it came time to select a school, the choice was an easy one—one that upheld the Word of God, that spoke about His grace, that emphasized a love that one could not earn, yet a love that one could not lose. Grace School of Theology offers what folks need to know… the grace and love of Christ.
Scott became familiar with Grace through church acquaintances who serve as staff and faculty at the seminary. According to Scott, knowing these people and their theology made it easier for him to choose Grace.
However, student life was not without any difficulty for Scott. At first, he found it hard to manage his time between school, work, and family. He decided to take a little time off from his studies and focus on his other priorities.
But because of His constant desire to grow in the knowledge of Christ, he eventually re-enrolled at Grace! It was at this time he felt the overwhelming support of the school.

“The school extended grace during this leave and I was able to easily re-enroll and get back on the path to earn the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) degree. It was almost as if that few years in absentia were but a few weeks. Thank you, Grace!”

Throughout his tenure at the seminary, Scott considers the discipleship program a great help. He can testify how the staff and faculty modeled disciple-making by encouraging him to continue his study and grow in the knowledge of Christ.

“My background is in engineering and financial research. As such, I ask a lot of questions. And the professors are accessible and available to answer those questions—both in class and outside of class.”

Meanwhile, fellow students (which includes his wife, Jennifer) from discipleship groups have been a great source of joy and inspiration—as Scott became acquainted with their stories and ministry experience.

“I have developed friendships through classes and discipleship groups around the world. That is ‘cool beans.’ I would put a gallon of ‘awesome sauce’ on those beans.”
When you ask Scott about which classes impacted his life and ministry the most, he cannot afford to choose just some. According to him, “it would be like asking a little kid who had free reign in a candy store which candy was his favorite.” As he progressed through the courses, he discovered more subjects that he would fall in love with and satisfy his desire for more knowledge of God.
Nonetheless, foundational for Scott are the four core courses: Hermeneutics, Spiritual Life, Soteriology, and Research Methods. For him, these are “super impactful.” He also cites foundational theology courses and practical ministry courses as his favorites.

Scott thought graduating from seminary was something that he would not be able to achieve. But it became possible with Grace! Scott graduated with his MABS degree and is currently pursuing the Master of Divinity (MDiv) program. He prays that the school would be able to reach more students like him around the world!

“It is my prayer and desire to see Grace continue with another A—advancing its geographic reach, advancing its discipleship reach, and advancing its educational offerings.”
