A Passion for Preaching Grace to Kids

Children around the world need to hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, for it is God’s power of salvation for fallen humanity. So when Janine McNally enrolled at Grace School of Theology, her goal was to learn more about how the truth about Christ can be preached to the younger generation. She was pleased because the courses she took made a huge impact on her desired service to the Lord.

I decided on Grace because I knew it would ground me further in grace doctrine and provide a solid education. I haven’t been disappointed!
Janine’s main ministry is Grace4Kidz, which aims to keep the Gospel simple, free, and clear for children. Through the platform, children ministry leaders can access helpful resources such as outreach resources, teacher training, discipleship materials, blogs, and podcast episodes for teaching kids the simple truths about God’s grace.

Janine first got acquainted with Grace through a doctoral student friend who encouraged her to attend the seminary. With her passion for teaching, Janine decided to take on the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree program of Grace to be more equipped in the ministry.

One factor that kept Janine pursuing her Grace education is its manageable learning pathways. She appreciates how a few of her Master of Theology credits in a former seminary were transferred to the DMin program she is currently enrolled. For her, this made a significant difference in focusing on the courses that would be immediately applicable for her ministry. She mentions that it is a great help for her that the tuition costs less than other seminaries.

At the beginning of her Grace journey, Janine had a technical learning curve with the hybrid set-up but she was able to grasp the process eventually. Grace made this seamlessly possible through its Student Technology Efficiency Program (STEP), which provides new students with training in using its cloud-based learning system.

“I loved the freedom of doing an independent study in my focus area.”
Janine considers her research writing on Prevenient Grace with Dr. Fred Chay as something that reawakened her love for study. In addition, her class on Issues of Grace Theology and Praxis developed a Scriptural-based knowledge about grace that she could share to people with varying beliefs on God’s free gift of salvation. In her previous church, she experienced speaking about her learnings on salvation during a staff meeting.
“Many active debates were had around the table as I attempted to [persuade] them with the grace position. Not sure that it changed anything, but it was fun!”

One class that she was excited about was Contemporary Theology Issues. For her, the resources they have to use in the class are insightful even to someone seasoned in the field. She shares that they are also relevant as they are very much applicable to the issues that today’s children face.

Aside from Grace4Kidz, Janine is also working on her first book about the unique characteristics of the Generation Alpha children. This deals with the study of most kids born from 2010 to 2024 (the ones who got more exposed to modern technology). For Janine, one of the major problems of this generation is that they are leaving the church in droves. Through helpful, Bible-rooted advice, she hopes her readers can cater more to the spiritual needs of the younger generation and lead them to the right path.
Grace aims to equip students like Janine with sound biblical knowledge needed to fulfill their life mission of sharing the love of Christ to others. It is a love that cannot be earned and lost, and a love that is available as well to our little ones. As the Lord Jesus would say: “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” (Mark 10:14 NASB95).
