Grace Student Has a Heart for Learning and Ministry
Serving the Lord is one of Jennifer Gill’s passions in life, and she hopes to find more people who will become disciples of Christ to serve in His kingdom. Jennifer considers Grace School of Theology as one of the breeding grounds for such people. That’s why she hopes Grace students will get involved in “full-time” ministry so that more future leaders can learn about the school and benefit from its quality theological education.

Jennifer Gill is an active member of the church that she attends in Tyler, Texas—she is currently involved in women’s and children’s ministries and is a small group leader. She discovered Grace through the founder and president, Dr. Dave Anderson, who has been her pastor for years in The Woodlands. Her husband, Scott Gill, was the first to enroll at Grace. A few years later, she entered the seminary, taking a Master of Ministry (MM) degree. She chose it because it is very much applicable to her current ministries. She plans to pursue more theological studies in the future.
“I began by wanting to pursue a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS) and take mostly theology courses. However, I soon learned that the ministry courses offered are applicable now in all of my ministries, so I am pursuing that first. God willing, I will pursue a MABS next. Graduate school is a lot of work but is worthwhile.”
Jennifer’s passion for learning more about God is evident in her desire to continue pursuing her education. For her, there are many benefits from the continuous study of the Scripture, so she is “learning more than [she] could retain.” Even if other people are not fond of pursuing further theological education because of its challenges, the learning system of Grace makes it attainable.
One of the courses Jennifer took at Grace greatly impacted her life and ministry. Conflict Resolution with Professor Garry Kiker presented essential principles useful in real-life situations.
She and her husband, Scott, have been involved in some conflicts themselves, and they were able to apply what they learned from this subject. Spiritual Life with Dr. Ken Wilson taught her many valuable lessons from the Scriptures that are very practical as well. This includes how to cope or avoid getting “burned out” in the ministry. She also appreciates learning through the course about Dr. Anderson’s book on 1 John, Maximum Joy (get the Kindle version here).
The learning system of Grace allows Jennifer to continue pursuing her study in the comfort of her home. This gives her more time for the ministry and her family. According to her, the online video conferencing system “has worked well” for her situation, and not being required to make a “face-to-face” appearance is very beneficial overall. Moreover, the affordable tuition fee makes it possible for both her and her husband to pursue and finish theological studies at an accredited theological school.
“The people at Grace understood when I dropped my classes. My discipleship group said they would pray for me.”
