The Van Life: Traveling Ministers Made Possible by Grace

Brad and Misty, as well as their daughter Zofia, reside in a 35-foot recreational vehicle (RV). The couple has been married for more than 20 years and enjoys spending time outdoors, attending church, doing crafts, constructing projects, and learning new skills.

The Van Life: Traveling Ministers Made Possible by Grace
“Between work, being a homeschool mom, going to school myself, and trying to start our craft business (Chalked Full of Grace) to support our ministry (Grace on the Move), I can feel overwhelmed. I deal with challenges by keeping in mind that having an A is the goal, but if I receive a C, I am okay with that. I am learning more than I could ever have on my own. If I finish the day feeling I have accomplished as much as I could, then I know I did my best.”
The Bible is called the ‘Living Word’ and learning how to use proper Hermeneutics with a Free Grace Theology lens has opened our eyes to view Scripture in a new way every time we read it.
They have each faced their own set of difficulties in life. Misty was once diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and she felt her life was fading away in front of her. In 2017, Brad was diagnosed with brain cancer. He reasoned that “I couldn’t worry about things in my immediate future that would be of concern, such as what would happen to my family if I passed away. It was a big step for me to believe that the Lord would be there and provide for my kid and wife. I needed to be content. Whether I had 5 minutes or 30 years of life left in this beautiful garden that God has provided us with, I had to be content in the moment. I had to stay in the present moment and deal with the healing process that was taking place in the background of my mind.”
When Brad received the sad news of his condition, they both became determined to seek the Lord. Their enthusiasm and faith developed as a result of this experience. After surviving brain cancer, Brad now utilizes his testimony and healing experience to communicate the truth of God’s Word and the loving power of God everywhere he and his family go. Because of the nature of their ministry, they must travel to and from local churches to carry out God’s purpose wherever He has assigned them to serve.

Because they had dedicated their entire lives to the Lord, they felt a strong desire to learn more about His teachings and doctrine. They believed that their enthusiasm needed to be matched by their expertise. Going back to school felt like a logical progression. Misty said, “I’m completely baffled as to why I should seek a bachelor’s degree in the first place. We feel in our hearts that we need to know more about this. Brad and I didn’t want to be treated as just another student number when looking for a school. Grace School of Theology provided us with the opportunity to become a member of a “family,” which we appreciated.

They both appreciate going to and from class in their RV. It enabled them to continue their travels rather than be confined to a single location for an extended period. They consider themselves fortunate to speak about their experiences with Grace School of Theology and the positive influence it has made on their lives. Grace has transformed their lives, and as they both described it, “We have gained so much from Grace.” The school has opened their eyes to a whole new level of comprehension, even though they had both read Scripture, such as John 3:16, regularly. Because of the leadership of knowledgeable and experienced lecturers, professors, and physicians, the Scriptures opened up to them in ways they had never believed were possible.
Brad and Misty are head-over-heels in love with God and with Grace. They are glad and appreciative of how their connection, understanding, and closeness with God have been lifted to a whole new level due to this experience. They appreciate the fact that the school is accessible over the internet. This is necessary since they will be able to complete their degrees even if they are required to travel often. Additionally, the institution allowed them to take classes together, thus strengthening their friendship and love.
Misty admitted that she occasionally struggled with time management. Every single day at Grace has had an impact on their personal spiritual lives. They learn something new with every class meeting, discussion board, discipleship session, and book that they’ve encountered.
However, their educational adventure does not end there. Even after the session has ended for the day, they continue to discuss the subject after class. The time they spent focusing on God’s Word and being fed by it helped them better comprehend what they were studying.
Grace has an excellent teaching team on whom they believe they can put their trust. Aside from that, they are grateful for the relationships they have developed due to attending school. They have met people from around the world, including the Philippines, Panama, and all over the United States, whom they have welcomed into their life as part of their prayer warrior circle of believers. Grace School of Theology made it possible to meet people who would become lifelong friends.
Some teachers have become their lifelong friends, and they have been their go-to mentors anytime they want clarity on a topic or verse. They have an open-door policy, and Brad and Misty have made it a point to stay in touch with them regularly as a result.
Learning more about God helps in every situation they’ve encountered—from the ministry to home life. They pray that the knowledge they’ve gained from Grace will be made into wisdom so that they can accomplish the goals the Lord created for them during their time on earth.
As ministry partners and a couple, they believe they can use all of the information and talents they have learned and developed in their marriage to provide leadership in the ministry. Even though they have gone through many seasons, Grace has always been there to give help, support, and financial assistance when they needed it most.
