This conviction led him to pursue theological education at Grace School of Theology, following his father’s encouragement to enroll in the MDiv program.

For Hyun Seoung Choi, obedience in faith meant seeking a deeper understanding of the Bible and discovering his purpose in God’s mission. His journey began with a simple yet profound realization: to walk faithfully with Christ, one must know His Word properly. This conviction led him to pursue theological education at Grace School of Theology, following his father’s encouragement to enroll in the MDiv program.
If the Lord calls me elsewhere after my time in India, I’m willing to be a vessel for spreading His message wherever it’s needed.
As Hyun Seoung studied under experienced professors and listened to the testimonies of fellow students, his calling for missionary work became clearer. Grace’s real-time online lectures allowed him to study without being bound by time or location, giving him the flexibility to grow spiritually while hearing the firsthand accounts of missionaries serving around the world.
Hyun Seoung’s passion for missions deepened as he learned about the growing challenges missionaries face. Despite hearing that interest in missions was waning globally, his resolve strengthened. After completing his MDiv, he left his job to prepare for a life of missions, seeking opportunities for English studies and missionary training overseas.
But the path forward was not without obstacles. Hyun Seoung faced repeated setbacks in his efforts to relocate to the United States, Canada, or Australia. Disappointed and uncertain, he began questioning whether God intended to use him in this capacity.
In this season of doubt, God opened an unexpected door. A business connection in Chennai, India, offered Hyun Seoung a job, but securing a working visa seemed nearly impossible. However, within a month, through God’s provision, the visa was approved.
India brought its own set of challenges: unfamiliar culture, language barriers, and a drastically different environment. Yet, these hurdles became opportunities for growth. The company not only provided a conducive environment for continuing his Grace studies but also arranged a personal English tutor, enabling Hyun Seoung to prepare for future ministry while excelling in his work.
Hyun Seoung views his presence in India as an opportunity to live out the Gospel daily. Inspired by the stories of early missionaries who were ordinary believers using their journeys to share Christ, he seeks to spread God’s Word among coworkers and others he meets.
Hyun Seoung’s journey reflects the core mission of Grace—to equip spiritual leaders for the advancement of the Gospel. Through his faithfulness and willingness to walk through every door God opens, he exemplifies how theological training can empower ordinary believers to do extraordinary things for the Kingdom.
In Hyun Seoung’s own words, “If the Lord calls me elsewhere after my time in India, I’m willing to be a vessel for spreading His message wherever it’s needed.” His story reminds us all that God’s calling often comes through unexpected paths, and those who follow in faith will find the strength and opportunity to fulfill His mission.
