Handling Several Priorities Didn’t Stop a Bi-Vocational Pastor from Graduating Multiple Degrees
Alvin Ebreo handles several priorities in his life. He is a pastor, lawyer, and government director from a city in the Philippines. Nonetheless, this did not stop him from pursuing theological education at Grace School of Theology. He joins the Class of 2023 with three degrees and is very well satisfied with the Biblical knowledge and ministerial skills he gained.

One of the factors Alvin considered in choosing Grace is the flexibility it offers students, allowing them to join classes online wherever they are. Being bi-vocational, he must continue his work and ministry while pursuing his degrees. It also helped that the seminary offers affordable fees and International Aid. For someone like Alvin, who lives in the Philippines, these are significant factors to help him attain his educational goals. More importantly, the school’s accreditation ensures that his degrees will be widely recognized.
What Alvin learned from Grace greatly impacted both his life and ministry. His Soteriology class with Dr. Dave Anderson transformed his perspective on salvation and grace. Throughout the course, the concept of salvation as a gift from God became clear to him. This allowed him to minister more effectively to others struggling with their beliefs.
The Basis of Free Grace Theology with Dr. Ken Wilson further solidified Alvin’s faith in God and deepened his understanding of the love of Christ. For him, the principles he learned in the class greatly enriched his personal life and ministry.
Alvin’s main challenge in his study is balancing his ministry work, legal career, and academic responsibilities. He was able to overcome this through some helpful advice and support from his academic advisors and professors. He learned that with careful planning and support from the institution, he could overcome the challenges in his study. He also credits the community in the seminary, particularly his discipleship groups, for helping him maintain focus and motivation despite having to handle various responsibilities.
Alvin graduated in 2023 with a Master of Ministry (MM), a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (MABS), and a Master of Divinity (MDiv). After graduation, he plans to focus more on evangelism, discipleship, and church planting with his local church community.
