Grace in Action

A Pastor’s Passion for Theological Education

Pastoral ministry is a challenging endeavor. Feeding God’s flock regularly with truths of the Scripture and guiding their walk of faith can be challenging at times. As such, learning should be a continuous process and something that a pastor continuously seeks.

A Pastor’s Passion for Theological Education
I want to thank God for bringing Grace to my life. I know it was God’s providence that my casual browsing on Facebook four years ago led me to this great school.

Dennis Pueblas recognizes the challenges incorporated in a pastor’s ministry, which is why he enrolled in the Master of Ministry (MM) program at Grace School of Theology. Serving as a pastor at a local church in his home country, the Philippines, Dennis desires to learn more about God and gain the needed skills to be more effective in the ministry.

“I chose this program because I know I still need to gain many skills I can use for the ministry. True enough, the school supported and provided me with the tools I need to improve my life and ministry.”

From the admission process to the registration of courses, Grace has made a considerable impression on Dennis. According to him, the seminary staff is very accommodating and friendly—always ready to help and assist him through the process and answer questions he might have. This companionship makes the student’s journey much more fun and more manageable.

“I feel like they have been my friends for a long time already.”

For Dennis, some of the advantages of Grace are its accessibility and affordability. Compared to other accredited seminaries, the tuition is cheaper. Also, the lessons can be easily accessed online through a user-friendly, web-based learning management system. For spritiual leaders who also work in a secular workplace such as Dennis, this makes studying more convenient for him—he can listen to lessons, access resources, and pass assignments using a single online platform.

Another essential factor that keeps him pursuing Grace education is the professors handling the subjects. They have a lot of experience in the ministry and have studied in some of the best schools in theological education.

“I learned that the people behind the school are from the best seminaries in the United States. So right off the bat, I know I will learn something.”

One of the subjects Dennis enjoyed and learned much from is Spiritual Life by Dr. Ken Wilson. According to him, the lessons he learned on the course greatly impacted his daily walk with God. He also cited Servant Leadership by Dr. Steve Hill and Vision and Strategic Planning by Dr. Albert Letting as subjects vital to his ministry. These subjects taught him many lessons about being an influential minister to the people God entrusted to him in his church.

As fun as learning could be for Dennis, there are also some challenges encountered along the way. One of them is in composing academic papers. As someone whose first language is not English, the technicalities of writing can be a problem. Nonetheless, this did not stop him from pursuing his education. With the help of his professors who offered great support and valuable corrections, he became more competent and passionate about his studies.
“Honestly, there is always an excitement in my heart every time I begin and finish a course, and in the midst of it is the thrill of going through different academic challenges.”

For Dennis, Grace has been a blessing in his life and ministry. He is thankful for his experience in the seminary and hopeful that he will soon finish his MM degree—more equipped with knowledge and skills for pastoral ministry.
