The More I Learn, The Less I Know: Relearning the Bible in Seminary

Even as Christianity leads as the majority religion in Panama, Esthela Flores has personally witnessed and experienced how the people around her still needed to know who the Lord is and how to remain intimate in their walk with Him.

It is sensational to have the opportunity to prepare for ministry even in the midst of the trials we face everyday.

Esthela strived to complete her Master of Arts in Biblical Studies and Master of Ministry degrees at Grace School of Theology because of this need.

“The more I learn, the less I know.” is a statement she fully agrees with as her education with Grace provided her with the foundational blocks she did not know she had lacked and needed to establish. Aside from equipping her to fulfill the calling God has set for her, studying the biblical text in its original languages, digging deep into the historical contexts, and surveying different systems of beliefs allowed her to grow personally as well. Biblical truths were affirmed as she continued digging deeper into history, geography, and science. Esthela expressed how everything she learned and relearned at Grace allowed her to confirm her faith and love for God’s calling to her.
Despite the difficulties Esthela has faced in her life, Grace opened its doors for her to find much needed support from her professors. She shares that one of the courses that most impacted her walk was the Spiritual Life class. She was confronted to understand what the true state of her relationship and fellowship was with the Lord. Soteriology is another class that left a mark on Esthela as she was able to reaffirm her theological position and move forward with the confidence of learning and teaching sound doctrine. She appreciates that she was able to experience all these learnings and reflections fully online while serving in ministry.
Esthela serves the women in her church and works alongside her husband in bringing more people to Christ. It is their desire to help others get to know Christ, grow spiritually, and realize that the life of a believer is not easy but it is a blessing albeit.
